"From arts to athletics, there are hundreds of activities available to today’s youth. But none will prepare kids for the future like the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. It is one of the premiere youth volunteer programs in the country." Our City Weston

The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization serves as support to the US Air Force. When it was founded just before the attack on Pearl Harbor, the original members actually performed coastal patrol missions for the government, where 173 German U-Boats were sighted, 53 were attacked, and 2 were sunk. Today, the role of CAP has been greatly expanded to include relieving the Air Force from many aerial and ground search and rescue activities, as well as helping with homeland security, drug interdiction and disaster relief.

Cadets and Senior Member’s have the opportunity to be trained in aiding the Air Force and the government is those missions, and, in fact, CAP performs over 95 percent of all inland Search and Rescue missions in the US. In addition to this important mission of CAP, there is also the cadet program. The Cadet Program is designed to build leadership, character and citizenship in young people, through an interest in aviation. The CAP Cadets receive guidance, aviation orientation and supervision from the CAP Senior Members.

The Weston CAP Squadron has a strong Cadet Program open to anyone interested in providing community service, building their leadership skills and learning about aviation, aerospace, and the military. The core values of the Cadet program are integrity, volunteer service, respect and excellence.

Any student interested in learning more about the prestigious CAP Cadet program is invited to attend one of the weekly meetings. The group meets each Tuesday from 7pm-9:15pm at 3250 Meridian Pkwy in Weston. You can also get more information about the Weston Area Squadron CAP by requesting a membership pkg or by browsing through our web site, www.capweston.org .
